Artist statement:
There are a lot of boring brown pots out there, I like to have fun: making something that is bright, colorful, dynamic and amusing.
Timeline:
1966 Born in Nebraska, discover crayons, paints and clay soon thereafter
1983 Begin ceramics program at Bennington College
1985 Apprentice to Dean White, potter, Deansboro, NY
1987 Received BA in Visual Art from Bennington College, with concentrations in ceramics and architecture
1990 Masters degree in special education, University of illinois at Chicago
1990-1994 Instructor and Artist-in-residence, University of Illinois at Chicago Craft Shop
1994-1997 Instructor of English skills and pottery, Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, Mass
1997- present Full-time studio potter, sculptor, illustrator (1997-2006 in New Hampshire, then moved to Ithaca, NY area in 2006)
2004 Selected as a State Juried Member, league of New Hampshire Craftsmen
2005 Selected as one of New Hampshire's Rising Young Potters, Phillips Exeter Academy, New Hampshire
2008-2011 Instructor of ceramics at Cornell University's Ceramics Studio
2010 Selected for the Chiaroscuro annual Teapot exhibition, Chicago, IL
